About the event
Course Description
Peer Support is much more than responding to high stress events. Peer support is taking care of your fellow officers through a current crisis, or a crisis that may have happened decades ago. No one knows a law enforcement officer like a law enforcement officer. The same is true for dispatchers. True peer support is far more than critical incident management. This course teaches officers and dispatchers specific methods to assist others in officer involved shootings and other uses of force; the everyday stress and strain of the job,; line of duty deaths; suicide recognition and prevention in fellow officers, and family survival in law enforcement; and “coaching sessions”. Peer Support is not just a class, it is a life changing event.
