Implementation in Action: Addressing Youth Vaping through the Strategic Prevention Framework
Implementation in Action is the fourth session in the PTTC Network’s five-part Strategic Prevention in Action series, guiding participants through how to move from planning to action using the Implementation phase of SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). This webinar focuses on the practical realities of launching and sustaining prevention strategies in communities—especially efforts aimed at reducing youth vaping.
Participants will explore how to deliver evidence-based interventions with fidelity while adapting to community needs, strengthen coordination among partners, manage resources effectively, and support the capacity required for successful rollout. The session also highlights the critical role of communication, troubleshooting challenges, and monitoring progress to ensure implementation stays on track and produces measurable results.
Designed for prevention practitioners, coalition leaders, school and health system partners, and community stakeholders, this training offers concrete guidance to support smooth, community-centered implementation efforts.
Presenter: Heather Ariyeh brings more than 20 years of public health experience, specializing in social change theory, group decision-making, large-scale strategy, and community-based prevention. She has overseen Oklahoma’s prevention portion of the state’s substance use block grant, supported behavioral health planning at the school-district level, and worked with over 40 community coalitions. Heather has served as a strategic planning and evaluation consultant on more than 35 federal grants across prevention, treatment, and recovery. A former nonprofit Executive Director supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, she is also the founder and Executive Director of Monster Soup Society, a youth-led public health coalition. Heather holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and an M.F.A. in Art Practice and is a dedicated parent, gardener, Latin dancer, and caretaker to Kathleen, her delightfully cantankerous cat.
