Course Details
This course provides foundational instruction in drug identification with an emphasis on current trends within the drug subculture. It is designed for entry- to mid-level law enforcement personnel, particularly those involved in narcotics-related duties or seeking to build a working knowledge of drug identification and associated indicators. Participants will examine commonly encountered illicit and controlled substances, including how they are manufactured, processed, packaged, distributed, and marketed in today’s environment. The course also addresses the physiological and psychological effects of these substances, with a focus on recognizing indicators of use and abuse in real-world settings.
Instruction includes a structured overview of both legacy and emerging drug trends to provide context and enhance understanding of the evolving drug landscape. Course materials incorporate informational slides, photographs, and short video segments to reinforce recognition of substances, paraphernalia, and related indicators encountered in the field.
