Drug Interdiction by GSPCC

This class is designed to help patrol officers understand the intricacies and nuances of drug interdiction. While interdiction can be fruitful in identifying drug couriers/dealers and can sometimes yield cash or other goods through asset forfeiture, there are pitfalls of which patrol officers must be made aware.

This class not only covers techniques in identifying possible drug couriers, but also Constitutional constraints, use of canines, “do’s and don’ts” and safety measures. Our interdiction class also covers patrol interview techniques that can help establish rapport, which can be instrumental in gaining free and uncoerced consent to search. The class concludes with practical exercises that help officers learn to communicate effectively with suspected drug couriers/dealers to gain rapport.
