Field Training Officer
Update Class will provide the student with an understanding of the industry standard San Jose FTO Model. It will provide those who have attended the GSPCC Basic FTO Course or are seeking to refresh their outdated/expired FTO certification from another course, with advanced tools and knowledge, to effectively train and evaluate recruit field trainees. The course will focus on leadership fundamentals, ethics and professionalism, teaching and training techniques and methodologies, as well as the proper application of the Standardized Evaluation Guidelines (SEGS) when completing Daily Observation Reports (DORS). This does not take the place of a full FO Course.
Attendees must have completed an FTO Basic Course for admission to the refresher course.

ABOUT GSPCC
Granite State Police Career Counseling (GSPCC) provides progressive and comprehensive law enforcement training through collaborative learning. GSPCC's instructors are seasoned classroom professionals with law enforcement backgrounds who are formally educated in their respective teaching and training fields.
About the Instructor:
Officer Phillip White, MS, MA (RET.) served for 26 years with the San Jose, CA Police Department. From 2017-2023, he was the department’s CA POST certified FTO Program Coordinator, providing supervision and leadership to over 85 FTOs, 15 FTO Sergeants and between 40 and 65 trainees during a given cycle. White was also the lead course instructor for the CA POST FTO Course. He served as an FTO for four years and in various special assignments outside of the Patrol Division. He retired in January 2023 after 31 total years of law enforcement experience. He now resides in Portsmouth, NH.
Cost: $250 per student
